The CRC Chairman took part in the final meetings for 2019 of the Independent Regulators Group and the Body of European Regulators for Electronic Communications

The CRC Chairman Mr. Ivan Dimitrov took part in the 48th General Assembly of the Independent Regulators Group (IRG), 41st Plenary meeting of the BEREC Board of Regulators and Plenary meeting of the Management Board (MB) of the BEREC Office. The meetings were held on 5-6 December in St. Julian's, Malta.

The connectivity challenges and the new conditions for access to high-capacity networks are BEREC's priorities for 2020. Next year BEREC will draw up guidelines related to the definition of this type of networks, access to installations, cables and related facilities in buildings and the consistent application of co-investment criteria.

The 5G roll-out, particular implications on the ecosystem and security items are among BEREC 2020 primary activities.

Open Internet also remains in the focus of BEREC and the update of the Net Neutrality guidelines will be carried out in the first half of 2020.

The consumer empowerment will remain to be a priority for  BEREC. Pursuant to the new European Electronic Communications Code, BEREC will draw up guidelines on the quality of services as well as a report on Member States’ best practices.

At request, BEREC will continue to provide advisory support to the European Commission, as well as to the European Parliament and the Council of the European Union.
